What is arche scaligere?

Arche Scaligere is a group of Gothic tombs located in Verona, Italy. They were built by the Scaligeri family, who ruled over Verona from the 13th to the 14th century. The tombs were originally placed inside the church of Santa Maria Antica but were later removed and placed outside the church.

The Arche Scaligere consist of five tombs, each one different in style. The largest and most impressive tomb is that of Cangrande della Scala, who was the most famous ruler of Verona. The tomb is decorated with intricate bas-reliefs and sculptures of angels, lions, and warriors.

The other tombs are those of Mastino II della Scala, who was Cangrande's father, Alberto II della Scala, who was Cangrande's brother, Guglielmo della Scala, and Fregnano della Scala.
